Rajini, Kamal invited TN Secretariat

Superstars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have been personally handed over the invitations by Tamil Nadu Information Minister Parithi Ilamvazuthi for the inaugural function of the new Secretariat and Assembly Complex, scheduled in Chennai on March 13.

If sources are to be believed, the senior Minister presented invitations in person to the top stars on instructions from Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, who is close to both the actors. He had also expressed them Karunanidhi’s wish to attend the function without fail.

A dream project of the octogenarian Chief Minister, the Assembly complex building on the Omandurar Government Estate will be declared open by the Prime Minster Manmohan Singh. The function will be attended by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi among other top political leaders of the country.

It was in May 2007 that the decision to construct a new complex for the Assembly was taken. Though Karunanidhi laid the foundation stone in June 2008, the site was formally handed over to the contractors only five months later.
