Adhurs's Big Problem In Karnataka

Tuesday, January 26, 2010
Declared as the top ranker in the Sankranthi releases, the film ‘Adhurs’ has been ruling the roost at the box office in Andhra Pradesh. However, things have not been that smooth for the film in the neighbouring state Karnataka and here are the details of that.

Apparently, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) has got a policy that non-Kannada movies must be released only on Fridays since their local movies are facing severe competition. But then, distributor Harinath Reddy had no choice but to release it during the week since he knew that by not doing like that, he would end up in a mess.

However, the KFCC showed its power by telling all print media not to carry any ads. This has resulted in a massive loss of Rs 40 lakhs to the distributor. It seems that Harinath Reddy approached the City Civil Court to stop KFCC and got an interim. Apparently, this treatment towards non-local films is said to have become a cause of concern to many Telugu film distributors.
