Genelia on an ad high as she bags plum deals

Genelia D’Souza is swiftly climbing the ladder of success — at least in the ad world. She recently replaced Rani Mukerji in a Margo advertisement and now, the buzz is that she is set to replace Vidya Balan as the brand ambassador for Airtel.

Vidya had wowed the audience with her fantastic chemistry with R. Madhavan in the advertisements, so much so that tongues had started wagging that there was something cooking between them.

But it seems that mattered little to the Airtel brass, who have roped in Genelia to feature opposite Madhavan.

She has been doing films down south and whenever she gets a break in between, she grabs a new ad campaign and starts working on it with gusto.

Recently, on a break from the shooting of her next Telugu film, Orange, the actress reached St Xavier’s College in Mumbai to shoot a mobile phone commercial, which also feature John Abraham and Abhay Deol.

“The last time I shot there, Imran ( Khan) was singing Kabhie Kabhie Aditi… ,” she recalls.

But that does not mean shooting the commercial with John and Abhay was any less an experience, she says.

Genelia didn’t start the year too well, with Chance Pe Dance biting dust at the box office. But she hopes to end the year on a good note with It’s My Life, which happens to be a remake of her Telugu blockbuster, Bommarilu.
